AWR! Construction Site Trolley Tours!

The Akron Waterways Renewed! program will be offering monthly two-hour bus tours of the completed and active sewer construction projects around the City of Akron. The tours will start at the Mustill store (57 W. North St., Akron, Ohio 44304), where attendees will learn all about its significance and the history of the canal, as well as the ongoing Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel (OCIT) work. Immediately following, everyone will board the Trolley, which will visit all of the OCIT sites: OCIT1, OCIT2 and OCIT3, as well as Cascade Village Storage Basin (CSO Rack 15), Camp Brook Storage Basin (CSO Rack 12) andFOrge Field Storage Basin (CSO Rack 14). 

This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity and we only have availability for the number indicated within the sign-up program.

Residents who would like to learn more about the Akron Waterway Renewed! program and Ohio Canal Interceptor tunnel, are invited to remain at the Mustill Store during the tours for an educational conversation session with City and Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel staff.

Akron Waterways Renewed! Conversation is an opportunity for individuals and small groups to gather for informal conversation on Akron’s environmental future. Topics for discussion will include the benefits of the AWR! program, historical perspective of Akron’s waterways, Akron’s continued progress, the consent decree, integrated planning, current projects and the future of Akron’s environmental legacy.
