AWR! Construction Site Tours! The Akron Waterways Renewed! program is offering several two-hour bus tours of the completed and active sewer construction projects around the City of Akron. The tours will start at the Mustill store (57 W. North St., Akron, Ohio 44304), where attendees will learn all about its significance and the history of the canal, as well as the ongoing Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel (OCIT) work. Immediately following a short video about OCIT and a question and answer period, everyone will board the bus, and we will visit a variety of basins and green infrastructure sites. This is a first-come, first-serve opportunity and we only have availability for the number indicated within the sign-up program. The tour will be primarily by bus, with an opportunity to get out of the bus at construction sites that are not active, weather and time permitting. This tour requires some walking and prolonged standing. If you need to bring a chair, please do so - there is also some walking on uneven surfaces. Currently, we're still trying to have some safety measures in place so our 25 passenger busses will only be filled to half capacity to respect social distancing to the best of our ability. We will be adding more dates depending on attendance. Click here to sign up. 2021 Tour Dates Friday, September 10 - 10 a.m. Friday September 24 - 10 a.m.
