The City of Akron is excited to announce the inaugural Akron Waterways Renewed! Photo Contest, an opportunity to showcase the renewal of our local waterways, wildlife and ecosystems. The AWR Photo Contest is part of our annual environmental festival, the Blue Heron Homecoming.
The winning photos will receive an all-weather showcase in the Cuyahoga Valley hung on the Akron-Peninsula Road face of the City’s Water Reclamation Facility, the Ohio Canal Interceptor Tunnel building off of the Towpath, or another City building for a period of time up to a year.
This year’s festival theme is “Wings of Renewal” and entries should be nature photos that illustrate renewal of the environment in Akron. The photo contest is open to all photographers, and entries will be judged based on relevancy to the theme, creativity, and visual quality and composition.
